Joe Carr has spent over 35 years leading and coaching individuals and sports teams. For him, sports and fitness teach us discipline, trust, responsibility, accomplishment, and fun. Joe started coaching basketball at the age of 18 with St. Anthony’s Church (Oceanside, NY), and returned to coach football with his hometown Oceanside Stallions Athletic Club.
Joe has also guided high school age and older students through strength-training programs at Iron Island Gym. Seeking to challenge himself to improve his “personal best,” Joe was a competitive powerlifter for three years throughout Long Island and the New York metropolitan area. He worked with the Cardiovascular Fitness Unit of the New York Police Department at One Police Plaza, NYC.
His focus on fitness assessments and blood pressure readings have enabled dozens of police officers start on the path to better health by reducing their weight, lowering their blood pressure, and setting fitness goals. Joe is skilled in fitness training and evaluation, exercise program and training session design, and client education on training techniques. He has been a certified personal fitness trainer to individual clients for the past 20 years.
